Trees On Our Mind

Trees are the largest of all plants and the oldest known living things. They are important to wildlife habitat where they provide food, nesting sites, nest materials and shelter from predators. Trees clean the air we breathe and reduce soil erosion, helping to protect rivers and streams.

I have turned to nature for inspiration in my art many times over the years. One result was a series of trees, painted in acrylics on canvas in a style that I call surrealistic expressionism. Trees float above the landscape, sit boxed into corners, and hover within window-like frames. These trees are an expression of my appreciation for and concern about the destruction of the world’s forests an woodlands.
